Roger Greenberg, single, fortyish and at a crossroads in his life, finds himself in Los Angeles, house-sitting for six weeks for his more successful/married-with-children brother. In search of a place to restart his life, Greenberg tries to reconnect with old friends including his former bandmate Ivan. But old friends aren't necessarily still best friends, and Greenberg soon finds himself spending more and more time with his brother's personal assistant Florence [Greta Gerwig], an aspiring singer and also something of a lost soul. Despite his best attempts not to be drawn in, Greenberg and Florence manage to forge a connection, and Greenberg realizes he may at last have found a reason to be happy.

A film by Bernard Rose, based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy with music by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Edgar Hudson meets Abby, a concert pianist, at a dinner party. Abby is involved with someone else but that doesn’t stop the two from acting upon their strong attraction to one another. They start to sneak around but it’s not long before they realize they should be together. Soon after Abby breaks up with her boyfriend, she becomes pregnant with Edgar’s child – something that was not planned.

Este anul 1954 si Maresalul US, Teddy Daniels , este desemnat sa investigheze disparitia unui pacient din spitalul Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe . El a facut presiuni pentru a obtine misiunea de pe insula pentru motive personale, dar dupa o perioada de timp se întreaba daca nu a fost adus acolo, ca parte a unui complot al medicilor din spital ale caror tratamente radicale variaza de la lipsa de etica profesionala pana la actiuni cu totul ilegale. Desi informatiile sunt putine Teddy,datorita capacitatilor lui reuseste sa gaseasca o pista care pare sa fie promitaroare.Insa conducerea spitalului pentru a impiedica aflarea adevarului ii refuza accesul la înregistrari si face tot posibilul sa ii ingreuneze misiunea. Inconjurat de incertitudini si scenarii, totul devine din ce in ce mai confuz iar Teddy, începe sa se îndoiasca de tot ,de memoria sa ,de partenerul sau, chiar si de propria sa sanatate mintala.
